We were proud to welcome the team from Coca-Cola for a Tackling Minds CSR Volunteer Day, a truly memorable experience where community spirit and the healing power of fishing came together.
For those who may not know, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is all about businesses giving back to their communities. For the Coca-Cola colleagues, that meant swapping their desks for the great outdoors and joining us by the water to support our service users.
Making Brews, Casting Lines, and Sharing Stories
The team jumped right in, helping with setup, making brews, buddying up with our service users, and listening to their powerful stories – stories of recovery, resilience, and how fishing has become such a transformative tool for mental health and wellbeing. Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper day on the bank without wetting a line themselves. We loved seeing the group relax into the peaceful rhythm of fishing, especially the moment one volunteer proudly kissed their very first fish (a long-standing angling tradition and a definite icebreaker!).
Another highlight came when one of the team landed a feisty little common carp, greeted with cheers and smiles all around.
A Day of Remembrance and Connection
This session was especially meaningful, held in memory of Damien Moss, who once benefitted from our service and who is sadly no longer with us. For some of the volunteers, supporting Tackling Minds was deeply personal, as they knew Damien. It was a poignant reminder of why we do what we do, and why partnerships like this matter so much.
